Army Coins

2CAV Coins

Sometimes we get a unique project that’s outside the square (or outside the circle), and that was the case with a unique coin for Townsville’s 2nd Cavalry Regiment.

The coin is see-through. The regiment’s badge is centred and anchored by the lance at both ends, allowing the eagle to ‘fly free’ within the coin. The black belt around the edge simply states the motto, ‘Courage.’ It’s an elegant coin and one we hope is a treasured memento of service for all who’ve received one.

Each coin is packed in a two-piece clear plastic opening case as a presentation method.

It’s been an absolute privilege to be able to help this project see the light of day.

The design and deployment of challenge coins was a strictly military thing, until recently when others have begun to utilise them – from first responders to corporate teams. The concept goes back to World War II at least, and some people believe they go all the way back to Roman times as tokens for service.

The reason that challenge coins have survived and grown in use and appeal, is that they work well as a tangible and economical way to help teams stand out, develop bonding through the challenge and build camaraderie and team loyalty. They’re great for recognition and reward.
